we celebrated 2 birthdays this saturday. sarah's brother and my sister. funny how that works. sister had her heart set on a couple of things to do in the city, so jumped in the car and drove downtown. here's a short summary with real pictures to come...
-the weather was fantastic and we originally tried to get tickets for the 1.5 hour Chicago Architectural Foundation river boat tour, but were too late. another million people had the same idea and beat us there. next time.
-so off went to corner bakery for some eats
-we headed out to tour around millenium park as none of us have truly seen everything since it's been finished. at first the contemporary designs seemed like an eyesore, but everything has really come together - the bean (cloud gate) was particularly effective on the bright sunny day
-then came lily's real fun. i took her and sarah to romp around the adult-build-a-bear store on the north side known simply as "1154 lill." basically, you pick a purse template and tailor all the fixings and materials as you see fit. expensive and trendy, they both seemed to have a really good time. i was going to design my own man-purse, but chose to pass the next two hours reading in a nearby starbucks. now if only they made an electronics store for men like that...
-dinner. sushi. tsuki's. lounge. trendy. tasty. richard. latha. tina. antara. peter. what more can i say?
- and the final kicker is we got to see all of the navy pier fireworks as we drove back home down LSD
happy birthday indeed.

it was a great day and the sister was happy. the sushi was tasty and well presented. i've had better, but i'd still be up for going back there.
