Speaking of Bill...

Yes, speaking of me, a wonderful idea. Be warned though that this is not for the faint of heart. I will be bitching about my daily struggles with no talent ass clowns, the insufficient number of hours in a day and my neverending search for good food. Still here? Excellent. Read on and join in.

e-nuff is e-nuff

this post is probably going to rock your world, or at least your image of me. aptly nicknamed "apple bar" by konna, the resident IT person in my house and the sometimes-resource to people at work, i'd like to think i'm somewhat tech savvy. i'd never consider myself a computer expert but i wouldn't hesitate to label myself a technophile either. i don't deny that from a young age, i've always liked new shiny electronics. that would explain the desktop, 2 laptops, printer and TIVO on a wireless network, 2 digital cameras, cell phones, ipods, nintendo DS's, gamecube, PS2 etc. hell, last night i just purchased a large external hard drive and another DS game (yay Mario Kart!) and you should see our outlets. every damn one of them (or at least the convenient/accessible ones) are spewing power strips, extension cords and plugs. you have to wonder how much juice our house consumes from the power company every day.

the point of all this is that i've been feeling rather oppressed/worn down/stressed/f#$%ing pissed about the very things that are supposed to make life "easier." lately it seems that everytime i fix something, something else fails. The unexpected TIVO-tantrum we're currently experiencing is really pushing my limits. yeah, don't fuck with my TV bitch - that's just not cool. sigh, i guess i'll have to teach it a lesson - a time consuming painful lesson. oh it's on now...

but don't get me wrong, not all electronics are bad. the tried and true ones (read: old school)don't give me any heartache. CD players? alarm clocks? we have no beef. maybe it's just the pervasiveness and dependence that has emerged in the last 10 years that irks me. remember the good old days when a walkman was the only electronics you needed for a trip?

in the end nothing will change though. i'm not ditching any of my precious tech or reducing my use of the internet. every once in a while i just need to take a step back and remember why it is that i spend 50% of my waking hours staring into a pixalated abyss. oh that's right. porn.
