Speaking of Bill...

Yes, speaking of me, a wonderful idea. Be warned though that this is not for the faint of heart. I will be bitching about my daily struggles with no talent ass clowns, the insufficient number of hours in a day and my neverending search for good food. Still here? Excellent. Read on and join in.

used and abused

i sit here at my desk. 3om. i should be working but i'm having a hell of a time concentrating. i went to go see the white sox ticker tape parade (perfect day) from the 14th floor of the CBOT building - aka sarah's workplace. it was a decent view and i was able to eat my lunch so that made me happy. that was clearly the highlight of my day.

i'm supposed to be reading depositions at the moment but i keep getting distracted by the possibilities the weekend holds. 99.9% of which i will not act on. this weekend is halloween and although i've never been gung-ho about this "holiday," i realize i've never been quite this listless before. i have no desire to dress up, eat bad candy or be frightened.

after working 50+ hours this week, i want to simply do nothing. like in office space if peter had a million dollars. i suppose there 's always "2 chicks at once" but i digress....

my mind turns to getting sushi, watching more episodes of the family guy, eating those sweet potatoes from the farmers' market, and sleeping in. and when does daylight savings time kick in? i'd say i'd also like to go on a run, but that's rather ambitious at the moment. i'm going to return to my work. i feel slightly better now. unfortunately, i bet you are not. you were probably reading this for something funny and amusing. instead, all you've gotten is an earful of B.S. misery loves company, so thanks. you've just been used and abused ;)

records, old and new

-congrats to the sox for winning their first world series since 1917. and they did it with a sweep. the celebrating mobs on TV afterwards looked odd to me. everyone was carrying brooms...i wasn't sure if it was a janitors' strike or people just really adamant about cleaning up the city.

-continuing our record year, tropical storm beta has formed in the caribbean, setting the bar higher for F#$%ed up storm seasons. we've seriously screwed up this planet.

-and on a side-topic, i would like to bring your attention to season one of the family guy on dvd. here's an exchange between Chris and Meg during a major heatwave:

Meg: Chris, you're hogging all of the fans!
Chris: Yeah, well...you're hogging all of the ugly!

i want one!

yes, here's a throwback to megan's old post about the little panda cub. and after 100 days he's finally been named - Tai Shan (peaceful mountain). that wouldn't be my first choice, but who cares, i still want one. how could you not?

shut yer mouth

few commercials pain me as much as joan cusack in her US Cellular campaign. and what a damn long run its been. you think their marketing department would have moved on by now. even verizon has limited their use of the "can you hear me now" guy.

in particular, i can't stand her latest "you can only hear a good network," as opposed to tasting, smelling or touching. i dunno, she's just annoying and rather freakish looking in my opinion. kinda like a clown mixed with her brother john.

there is a cure...

when you're really having a bad day - i'm talking things going wrong from the moment you open your eyes to the moment you can't take anymore. there is a cure. whether you've received bad news, are feeling ill, simple made every red light in what was supposed to be a short trip, were late for a friend's wedding rehearsal, or a combination of all the above...there is a cure. if i could bottle it up and sell it for mere pennies, i'd still be rich.

alas, her name is brynn and 2 hours of listening to her sing baa baa black sheep and color made sarah and me forget everything that was bad for a while. don't believe me? here's the proof.

mary bridget lucia gurry marries mr. burns

with a small delay, here are a few pics from Mary and Jared's wedding this past weekend. Marry looked stunning as always and Jared cleaned up well. except for a small fire at the rehearsal dinner and freezing rainy weather, the wedding went off without any noticable hiccups.

zombie-ish

oh good god, i'm so tired at work right now. food coma? a small component perhaps, but this tiredness was well on its way before lunch hit. how much sleep does everybody else get per night. sarah feels the same way too and we can't be the only ones feeling like this right? i never needed this much sleep in college...

i'm averaging in a range just above "minimum amount needed to sustain life and put on clothes" to just under "amount needed to do anything...ANYTHING...remotely useful and productive." People who walk by must think i'm a zombie by the look on my face, but i simply call it sleepy.

seriously, on a given night i'll get 6-6.5 hours assuming no: noisy trucks at 3am, hyper crickets, sirens, charley horses, extreme weather (hot, cold, humidity, lighting storms), or allergies/colds.

and if you're one of those people who get up at 5am to go workout before you start work, don't bother leaving a comment because you're a freak! a freak i say...

movie reviews...

saw the sci-fi flick Serenity with Bj last night. good stuff i say. it's very different and the only way i can describe it is a cross between the fifth element and resident evil. honestly though, the sum is greater than the parts.

...

ok, i'm trying to make up for a lack of movies lately. just saw the corpse bride with sarah at the hollywood blvd theater. highly recommended. it had a great story and the animation is simply amazing. it was much smoother than the nightmare before christmas (TNBC) and also had some musical numbers. the tim burton and danny elfman team worked well again. i actually liked TNBC better, but this was still a fun flick.

as a side review - the hollywood blvd theater is like none i've ever been in. the seats are office chairs with wheels, a full menu, a full wait-staff, and popcorn with real butter! it's decently priced and i'll be going back in the future. i also recommend the sweet potatoe fries.

and off the subject, has anybody been having issues with new posts? sometimes when i post one, i'll lose another. or it'll show up in my edits, but won't publish. off stuff i say.
