Speaking of Bill...

Yes, speaking of me, a wonderful idea. Be warned though that this is not for the faint of heart. I will be bitching about my daily struggles with no talent ass clowns, the insufficient number of hours in a day and my neverending search for good food. Still here? Excellent. Read on and join in.

gotta love the raw fish...

i don't know what it is about sushi that i love so much. i really don't like any other meats completely raw. hell, it's taken me a while to get used to asking for steaks medium as opposed to medium-well. so why raw fish? i don't even know but i'm not going to stop that's for sure. last night leah and i hit up logan square's Hachi's Kitchen. it's a spinoff from another fine sushi joint that lily really enjoys, the sai cafe. anyway, i'd highly recommend it. the service was prompt, the chef came around, the presentation was nice and the sushi was top-notch. In particular, i'll recommend the "halloween roll" - a maki roll with tuna salmon and black tobiko with a tempura green bean in the middle.

----
In sad news when i was up at logan square i passed by a mexican restaurant jed introduced me to, Abril. Unfortunately, the windows were boarded up at odd places and it looks like it's been closed for a while :(

And in big news, kingdom hearts II is released on March 28!

it's your smell!

aiight, so lily joined me in watching v for vendetta last night. it was entertaining on face value and i have no qualms about recommending it. the parallels to present day political issues are plentiful and they make no effort to hide them in the shadows. the whole down-with-the-totalitarian-government plot has been given a lot of attention (and fake blood) lately with Aeon Flux and UltraViolet. if you're not familiar with totalitarian governments and their methods, read this. i find it funny how all of these movies have been based on graphic novels? perhaps there is something about revolution that only pictures can capture (hot chicks kickin' ass in pleather?). granted none of these movies are oscar worthy but i don't care. i'll always enjoy seeing a hero (or heroine) rise to the occasion - especially given their absence in the real world.

---

and this will probably make some of you out there sick, but portman even looks good with a shaved head.

---

V, or agent smith, or lord elron, or whatever you want to call him is superb. the mask is hard and the lips don't move, so any emotion or subtlety is completely carried by the inflections in his voice. you can imagine.

things to get excited about...

- the snow skipped the south burbs last night. score!
- i haven't been anticipating any good movies for a while now...but i kinda forgot about the next x-men flick. check out the trailer for this may.
- i'm not sure what to think about the new superman movie coming out this summer, but i'd like to give it the benefit of the doubt.
- it's friday and st. patricks day!
- i'm getting L&F pizza tonight. best damn thin crust around...
- and i'm still a little mixed on this transition...eh, no i'm not...i just want to know why...WHY?!
i simply don't approve...

deep thought for the day...

dude, snow blows.

what exactly does this say about me?

throughout any given day, i find myself constantly making inferences about how people would act in other situations based on their current actions. confused? let me give you an example. i've developed a theory that people in the city walk like they drive. so that person who weaves manically through the crowd, throwing elbows like they like they're triple jointed, only to wind up at the same red light as me - i can only imagine that same person is the bastard in the bright tomato colored saturn cutting me off only to get nowhere.

really, in a given day, i don't know how many times i think about stuff like this. what made me reflect on this was the prospect of seeing a movie alone (for the record, i'm considering seeing 'v for vendetta' and my normal stupid action movie posse is defunct this weekend). prima facie, i don't think it's wrong in any way and i know people like pasha do it all of the time. in fact, when i think it through, the whole concept of seeing a movie with a group of people who you can't talk to till it's over is a little silly after all.

but for some reason, i can't shake the feeling like people would be judging me...and even if they were, i shouldn't care right? if not the judging, there seems to be something else i can't put my finger on. it could be routine. i have just never gone alone and breaking my "norm" takes a bit more effort.

so what does this say about me? insecure and self-conscious come to mind but i'd like to think i'm better than that. then again, if i go to the movie simply to prove a point to absolutely nobody, isn't that just petty?

damn, all of this over-thinking has made me hungry...next on my list of things to ponder...soda or no soda...

spending money like...like a chick...

just a few weeks ago, sarah and i were discussing our budget (prompted by filing taxes i believe) and we had this master plan all laid out. only one problem. we can't stop spending the loot. yes, we bring home the bacon AND we eat it too. seriously, how can you not eat bacon if it's just laying around? if you're a vegetarian or vegan and reading this - before you say anything, let me respond - f$#@ off.

anyway, our recent large purchases have included...a vacation at disney world, a new super light laptop, a slew of accessories for the laptop including a very 'metro' bag, new contacts, glasses and sunglasses for the both of us.

all in all i'm happy we've been so fortunate lately, but i'm disappointed in not being able to restrain myself. b-school is on the horizon and it seems silly not to prepare in advance.

i guess in retrospect the spending wasn't that gratuitous. i do like to blog embellish i suppose. but the computer was to help me work on the train and from home a bit. and the contacts and glasses were needed - i mean i am almost blind after all! sarah is just wanna-be-blind, but it's enough that glasses make a difference. perhaps next on the list i'll spend a couple thousand dollars on some light. a laser in particular, for lasik surgery. the thought of it makes me shudder though *shudder*

and by the way, work's been kickin' my ass lately, so if you feel hurt that i haven't called or seen you in a while, tough.

don't go spendin' it all in one place...

so i don't know why connie isn't feeling well. but according to frank she is. whatever the reason, here's my contribution to getting better.

tappa-tappa-tappa

chalk it up. i've added another annoying commuter habit to my black list.

it was a long day and i was taking the 730 train home alone. alone meaning without sarah. there were plenty of other people on the train and i was boxed in my seat by some lady who looked like she'd be a very good kindergarten teacher. i hadn't dozed off for 5 minutes before it started up. clickity-click-tappa-tappa-TAPPA. wtf? i'm on the train and it takes a lot of force to top the squeals and general hum-drum of the engine. add on the fact that i had my ipod blasting some techno music and you'll see why i was curious. i peaked over to see the seat in front of me and some lady is typing on her laptop. no laptop should have a keyboard that loud. something was suspect.

i took another peak and upon closer inspection, the "nasty ho," as i'll call her for now, had these super long fake plastic nails and was typing with her nails. whatever they were made out of seemed to resonate with the dull plastic querty. it probably didn't help that her chubby fingers weren't the most graceful and i'm sure several ENTER keys had already fallen under their weight.

eh that's just bill overreacting. he's "pissy" because he was hungry and tired and it was late. but no, i was not alone. looking around for another seat (there were none) i made eye contact with what can only be described as a reformed ali g. think of a guy who looks like ali g, but wearing normal clothes and sans the usual bling. he was actually sitting across from wolverine and was staring at her in digusted disbelief. he nodded to me in mutual understanding as if to say if you can hold her feet, i can finish her off. needless to say, we backed off and let her continue to impale her keyboard for the next 40 minutes.

i don't expect laughter or comments from anybody on this post. i just had to get that out. whew.

tufts biz-ness (as the "doctor" would say)

to join in the fun i'd like to put down some names. and in the spirit of full disclosure, i'm going to be honest. if the next 3 names typed by my hands aren't 1. sarah 2. sarah. 3. sarah, i'm gonna be in deep shit. so i will blog vicariously through the rest of you.

now coming from the husband of the first sucessful tufts house-cest relationship (knock on wood *knock* *knock*) i will give some sage advice....keep Chris Chen off the list for the ladies and i think it would be safe to assume ashley and laura wouldn't work for the guys (i think ms. aydinian can back me up on this one).

chalk it up

add another year to Annie's count.

happy birthday you tuftshousealum-soccercrazed-historybuff-texan.
